Short Title: Mild Characteristics
Description: This course encompasses Federal- and State-defined children with mild disabilities, to include children with learning disabilities (LD), mental disabilities, emotionally and/or behaviorally disabilities (EBD), attention deficit disordered (ADD) or attention deficit hyperactivity disordered (ADHD). Knowledge of the learning, behavioral, physical, social-emotional, and communicative characteristics of each of these groups of children will be the primary focus. Additionally, students will develop knowledge of the possible etiologies, theories, and outcomes, as well as the implications for intervention. Finally, students will apply their understanding of assessment and identification of students with mild disabilities through class participation, data collection, and by functional analyses of children's behavior.
