Description: Analysis of biological data employing various computational methods to obtain useful information in the emerging area of bioinformatics. Topics include: structures, functions and evolution of proteins and nucleic acids, retrieval and interpretation of bioinformation from the Internet, learning principles, algorithms and software for sequence alignment, similarity search of sequence databases, estimation of phylogenetic trees, structural prediction, and functional inference.
