No one understands market timing better than Purdue alumna Julie Wainwright. Less than a year after going public, her company went out of business. Undeterred, her persistence led to the creation of The RealReal, a luxury consignment business with a focus on sustainability that went public in 2019. Wainwright became a Wall Street star as one of just 22 women in history to found and see a company through an initial public offering. In 2021, she was named to Forbes’ inaugural 50 over 50 list. This event is free and open to the public.

The President’s Council is the giving society for Purdue’s most generous donors, who support the University in its persistent pursuit of the next giant leap. As part of its 50th anniversary celebration, the President’s Council is proud to sponsor the 2022 Presidential Lecture Series.
