Purdue students to compete for more than $10,000 in media tech contest

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - More than 15 teams of Purdue graduate and undergraduate students across all academic disciplines will compete Thursday (Dec. 10) in the sixth Schurz Innovation Challenge at Purdue.

The competition will be 5:30-8 p.m. in room 1142 of Lawson Computer Science Building, 305 N. University St. A reception will precede it from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the building's atrium. The public is welcome to attend and can RSVP at http://bit.ly/schurzcomp

The competition encourages participants to test their creativity and develop innovative ideas in media technology. Schurz Communications Inc. sponsors the competition, which is organized by Purdue Foundry.

The first-place team will receive $5,000. Second- and third-place teams will receive $3,500 and $1,500. The crowd's favorite entry will win $500. Grissom Controls, whose software integrates a building's heating, ventilation and air conditioning system to make it run smarter, took top honors in the most recent competition.
