WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue commencement organizers will open the Lawson Computer Science Building on Saturday (Aug. 8) for any overflow viewing of the university’s summer commencement ceremony.

The ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. in Elliott Hall of Music on campus. Should the Elliott crowd reach full capacity of around 5,800, people will be directed to the Lawson atrium so that they can view the event via live webstream, said Chris Pass, senior assistant registrar.

About 1,290 students are eligible for degrees, with 260 undergraduates, 415 graduate students and one student from the professional programs set to participate. Shawn Taylor, a Purdue alumnus, president and operating partner of Zaxby's Houston LLC and a limited partner in the Houston Astros Major League Baseball team, will keynote the event.

The ceremony will be aired live on Comcast Channel 5 and Boiler TV Channel 26.4. It also will be shown live via webcast at http://www.kaltura.com/tiny/j3yhx and will be available to viewers on desktop and mobile devices.

Commencement videos will be available for $30 per DVD.
