Hoodie Allen to perform Oct. 24 at Purdue

August 17, 2015

West Lafayette, Ind. – Hip-hop artist Hoodie Allen will perform with Natalie La Rose at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at Purdue University's Elliott Hall of Music. This performance is presented by the Purdue Student Concert Committee with support from the Student Fee Activities Board.

Without a label or management, Hoodie Allen's 2012 EP "All American," landed in the top 10 of Billboard's Top 200, eventually moving over 100,000 units. In addition to sold-out worldwide tours of his own, Allen has also played shows alongside everybody from Passion Pit to Macklemore. His latest album, "People Keep Talking," was released last fall.

"On some level, the album is a commentary on the fact that there's always going to be constant noise and communication in the world we live in," Allen said. "Being a musician, you get instant feedback on social media. Staying true to that same idea, I wanted to send out the message that you should do what makes you happy and follow what you're passionate about regardless of whether or not other people support you. Regardless if you're loved or hated, do what you do and be true to yourself."

Contemporary R&B vocalist Natalie La Rose's debut single, "Somebody," was a low-key club track in the vein of Tinashe's 2014 hit "2 On." "Somebody" featured Jeremih.
