Energy Incentive Open House set for Indiana State Fair
August 19, 2015
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Extension is teaming up with the Indiana Farm Bureau and Prosperity Ag & Energy Resources to host the Farm Energy Incentive Open House at the Indiana State Fair.
The event is 8 a.m. to 3p.m. Thursday (Aug. 20) at the Indiana Farm Bureau Building on the state fairgrounds. Admission is free.
Chad Martin, Extension renewable energy specialist, said farmers will have an opportunity to learn more about the rebates, grants and other incentives that are available to help cut on-farm energy expenses.
"In this uncertain economic environment, managing energy use is one of the most important things a farmer can do to protect their bottom line," Martin said. "This is a great opportunity to hear from energy efficiency experts and representatives from the energy utilities and government agencies who provide the incentives."
The open house includes informational displays and educational presentations by industry experts.
Martin will present a session on Extension's On-Farm Energy Efficiency Audit Program. During an energy audit, experts visit a farm to evaluate the existing energy system and recommend any potential improvements.
