May 6, 2015

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Varsity Glee Club will perform its final concert of the year as it presents the End of Season concert Saturday evening, May 16, at the Long Center for the Performing Arts, 111 N. Sixth St., Lafayette.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. There are no reserved seats; doors open at 6:45 p.m.

The Glee Club travels extensively throughout the year, performing all over Indiana and throughout the United States. The club performs a variety of musical styles - from traditional choral music to pop standards, Broadway numbers, and novelty pieces. In addition, all the Glee Club specialties will be performing: Lighthouse, which performs traditional to contemporary gospel; Voiceovers, the best in a cappella and contemporary hits; flashbacks, with the hits of the ’70s and ’80s; and Ba-Na-Na, with sounds of the ’50s and ’60s.

“This is a very talented group of young men,” said William Griffel, director of Purdue Musical Organizations and the Glee Club. “The energy and enthusiasm they bring to the stage is incredible. It has truly been an honor to work with them this year.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. They will be available at the door or in advance by calling Purdue Musical Organizations, 765-494-3941, or in person at Ralph & Bettye Bailey Hall, 359 Northwestern Ave., 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

The Glee Club is one of five vocal ensembles with Purdue Musical Organizations. More than 250 students perform with PMO annually in more than 100 shows. Purdue has no school of music, so nearly every academic major is represented in the organization. PMO has high academic standards as well, with an average grade point average of 3.07.
