Another Broken Egg Café to open this summer on Purdue campus

March 11, 2015

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A restaurant known for its omelets, pancakes, burgers and salads will open in July in the Seng-Liang Wang Hall, 516 Northwestern Ave. in West Lafayette, on the Purdue University campus.

Another Broken Egg Café will occupy 3,350-square-feet in Wang Hall with indoor seating for 100 and space for 24 more on an outside patio. The restaurant will employ about 45 people.

"Another Broken Egg Café is an excellent addition to the variety of restaurants in West Lafayette, and the location is central to the residents of our city and to Purdue employees and students," said John Dennis, mayor of West Lafayette. "The creation of even more jobs is always important to our growing community."

The restaurant is the first to open in Wang Hall, a public/private building of 147,000-square-foot owned by the Purdue Research Foundation. Wang Hall also houses facilities for the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, other Purdue academic and administrative offices and a branch of the Purdue Federal Credit Union.

"Greater Lafayette is an ideal location for Another Broken Egg where the clientele is comprised of a diverse mix of people. We have more than 60 items on our menu including everything from eggs benedict to beignets to grits and fried green tomatoes," said Jeff Blair, director of operations for Hoosier Hospitality Group, which manages the Indiana division of Another Broken Egg. "If someone wants a hamburger at 7 a.m. they can get it, or if they want pancakes at 8 p.m., they're available. The restaurant will appeal to a wide variety of people."

Blair said Another Broken Egg is known for its natural ingredients and assortment of food choices, including six vegetarian dishes, along with gluten-free foods and traditional fare.

"We are proud to make many of our menu items in-house - from the sauce in eggs benedict to biscuits and sausage gravy, and we believe in buying local. We are using Indiana honey and maple syrup as well as Red Gold ketchup, and we continually look for local products."

The café will be the second to open in Indiana for the franchise group, which is based in Indianapolis. The first restaurant is in Indianapolis, and the third is slated to open in Fishers, Indiana, in early 2016.
