WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Lynne S. Taylor has won the Chaney Faculty Scholar Award, the highest research award given to faculty by Purdue University's College of Pharmacy.

Taylor, a professor of industrial and physical pharmacy, received the award in recognition of her achievements in research to improve drug delivery through advances in pharmaceutical formulation and manufacturing processes.

Taylor has studied the chemical and physiological properties of pharmaceutical materials. Her areas of specialty include phase transformations, physical and chemical stability, water-solid interactions, amorphous systems, and solid dispersions.

Eric Barker, the college's associate dean for research and a professor of medicinal chemistry and molecular pharmacology, said Taylor's career has had a significant impact in the field and colleagues have said she is one of the top researchers and educators of her generation.

Taylor is one of the youngest fellows of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. In 2012 she and her co-authors were recognized as contributing the best manuscript of the year from both of the top pharmaceutical sciences journals, as winners of the Ebert Prize from the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the AAPS Pharmaceutical Research Meritorious Manuscript Award for a paper in the journal Pharmaceutical Research. Taylor also won the 2014 Coblentz Society Craver Award in Applied Vibrational Spectroscopy and is a Purdue University Faculty Scholar.

The Chaney Faculty Scholar award recognizes outstanding research accomplishments and includes a plaque and $2,500. Taylor presented the 2014 Chaney Faculty Scholar Research Seminar in the College of Pharmacy in November. An endowment created by JeanAnne D. and James B. Chaney supports the award and seminar.
