'Ballroom with a Twist' to bring sizzling dance to Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – "Ballroom with a Twist" will bring sizzling dance moves spanning samba, waltz, foxtrot, and more at 8 p.m. on Feb. 13 at Purdue University's Elliott Hall of Music. This performance is presented by Purdue Convocations.

The performance will feature stars from "Dancing with the Stars," "So You Think You Can Dance," and "American Idol." Dance pros Val Chmerkovskiy, Sharna Burgess, Tony Dovolani and Emma Slater have been cast in "Ballroom with a Twist." These four are currently competing in season 19 of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars."

* Val Chmerkovskiy is a 14-time U.S. national dance champion.

* Sharna Burgess is an Australian sensation who has been on "Dancing with the Stars" the past three seasons and the choreographer of the film "Street Dance 2 3D."

* Tony Dovolani is the season 15 mirror ball champion and fan favorite who's been a "Dancing with the Stars" regular since the second season.

* Emma Slater is from England and her credits include a lengthy stage stint in "Burn the Floor" and a dancing appearance in the film "Mamma Mia!"

"American Idol" finalists Gina Glocksen and Von Smith will provide the soundtrack. The show will be an evening of ballroom, rhumba, foxtrot, cha-cha, quickstep and more of your favorite dances.

Ticket information

General public tickets are $135 for a VIP package (that includes a meet and greet with the stars); $50 for Gold zone; $42 for zone A; and $30 for zone B. There is a limit of six tickets per person. Tickets for students are $32 for zone A and $25 for zone B.

Friends presale

Seating for Friends of Convocations is very limited for this performance. Orders may be placed by calling 765-494-3933 by 5 p.m. Nov. 13. Orders will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis until tickets are unavailable. There is a limit of six tickets per household. Friends of Convocations will be seated in the best available location using the priority point system. General public sale

Tickets for the general public go on sale at 10 a.m. Nov. 19 through convocations.org/tickets or by phone at 765-494-3933.

Tickets go on sale to Purdue and Ivy Tech Lafayette students and Purdue faculty, staff and retirees with a current identification card at 10 a.m. Nov.18 at the Stewart Center box office or at 765-494-3933.
