WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University's Student Organization Grant Allocation Board (SOGA) awarded nearly $390,000 to student organizations during its most recent round of allocations.

The funds, made available annually by the Purdue administration and the student activities fee, are awarded to student groups for events, travel and equipment purchases, said board chairperson Anna Ye.

Ye said the board received 203 funding applications. The board funded 150 organizations and $389,831 in grants.

"This year, we were fortunate enough to be able to fund all applications that followed the SOGA guidelines," Ye said.

Among the funding requests approved were Old Masters on Nov. 1, to honor Purdue dignitaries, and the Mortar Board Conference on Jan. 31, to build and inspire student leaders. Also a wide variety of cultural events were sponsored, such as the Rice Bowl on Oct. 18 and Malaysian Night on Nov. 1.

The next deadline for funding will be due Feb. 1 for events occurring in the time frame of March 1 to May 30.

The Student Organization Grant Allocation Board's primary purpose is to allocate funds to student organizations serving students on campus registered with the Student Activities and Organizations area of the Office of the Dean of Students.
