Alexis Ohanian |
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. –Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit, will speak about entrepreneurship from 6-9 p.m. Feb. 17 in Loeb Playhouse. The event is hosted by the Anvil, a student-operated business incubator, and Purdue Entrepreneurship and Innovation Club, an entrepreneurship organization for Purdue students.
"Alexis is going to talk about entrepreneurship and will tell the story of founding Reddit, one of the top 100 most visited websites in the world, and will be giving students advice based on his experiences," said Chris MacPherson, co-founder of the Anvil. "It is part of his college tour for his new book, "Without Their Permission," which we will be giving away, free signed copies, to the first 200 people at the event."
MacPherson said Ohanian's experiences are relevant to college students.
"Since Alexis is so young and Reddit is so popular among college students, we really expect his story to hit home with a lot of students," he said. "We hope it inspires more students to take everything they are learning in the classrooms and begin applying it now to building innovative new companies and technologies."
Sponsors for the program include Student Organization Grant Allocation and Dell Inc.
The Purdue entrepreneurial community has other upcoming events including the Boiler Mini Accelerator, an eight-week accelerator program.
