April 30, 2013

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Purdue University College of Health and Human Sciences is accepting nominations for the 12th annual Inspiring Families and Building Communities Award.

The award honors community programs or collaborations that help to strengthen the well-being of Indiana families. Youth programs serving both caregivers and children that help to unify and build up families also may apply.

A cash award of up to  $1,500 will be given to the winning organization. Other finalists may receive up to $500.

The college is accepting nominations through June 7. Groups, organizations and collaborations may self-nominate. All nominations must have the signed endorsement of the local community foundation officer.

Nominees and finalists from past years are encouraged to reapply. Past winners include a group that paired middle-class allies with families struggling with poverty, and a child literacy program that serves six Indiana counties.
