Firm's new services hold promise to improve efficiency for telecommunications clients

April 11, 2013

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. - Executives in the cellular communication industry could benefit from a Purdue Research Park-based firm's services that quantify how efficiently telecommunications systems utilize and deliver power.

Alternative Housing Solutions LLC, located in the Purdue Research Park of Northwest Indiana, offers installation support, commission and integration consultation, and efficiency management to its corporate clients. Co-founder Kevin Ruth said clients could see long-term benefits.

"The challenges they face may be imperceptible at first, but smart design and a focus on efficiency at transceiver stations will translate to verifiable savings as cell site modernization continues," he said. "Our services ensure that our clients' systems are installed in the most efficient manner, operating within clearly defined parameters to maximize the power signature."

Ruth and his colleagues at Alternative Housing Solutions have almost 20 years of experience in the electrical and mechanical fields.

"A considerable amount of expertise lies in our ability to determine client needs and system functionality," he said. "We have the ability to perform at a high level in this area."

Ruth explained the strategy behind expanding Alternative Housing Solutions' services.

"Our initial business plan had us on course for energy management in residential and light commercial sectors. We had no plans to move into data centers or telecommunications infrastructure energy management," he said. "As we looked at the energy consulting landscape, we saw that most of the action was occurring at the corporate infrastructure level. We look forward to establishing ourselves as a respected entrant into an evolving field."
