WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Convocations' 2013-14 season will feature 30 world-class performances, including an array of Broadway musicals, plays, concerts, and special events. The full 2013-14 season lineup will be unveiled on May 31 at the annual Convocations Party of the Season.

This year's party will include two events that feature live music by Black Bear Combo. A dinner party from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Four Points Sheraton, 1600 Cumberland Ave., West Lafayette,  and an after-party beginning at approximately 11 p.m. at The Black Sparrow Pub, 223 Main St., Lafayette.

The dinner party is open to all members of the Friends of Convocations. Tickets are $25 per person, and more information is available by calling 765-494-9712. The after-party at The Black Sparrow is open to the general public aged 21 and over. No cover charge applies.

Established in 2002, Black Bear Combo is a Chicago-based brass/reed band with a sound that channels the common energy between traditional music from Eastern Europe and the Balkans, punk rock, and free jazz. They've been featured in clubs, basements, festivals, weddings, funerals, parties and even on street corners across the country.

Initiated in 1902, Purdue Convocations was one of the first professional performing arts presenters in the United States. Each year, Convocations offers the region 30-40 performances of widely varying genres: Broadway-style shows, theater, dance, children's theater, world music, jazz, and chamber music, along with rock, pop, country and comedy attractions. With a vision for connecting artists and audiences in artistic dialogue and for drawing in academic discourse, Purdue Convocations aims to promote frequent exposure to and familiarity with human cultural expression in a multitude of forms and media.
