Traffic changes announced for Wang Hall construction site

March 8, 2013

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – New, temporary pedestrian traffic restrictions will be installed beginning Monday (March 11) near 516 Northwestern Ave. as construction continues on Seng-Liang Wang Hall.

The restrictions will be installed to provide safety for pedestrian and vehicle traffic. The sidewalk between Purdue University's Northwestern Avenue parking garage and McDonald's will be closed on the east side of U.S. 231/Northwestern Avenue. A 42-inch tall continuous highway barricade will be installed in the median of Northwestern Avenue, from just south of Stadium Avenue to just north of the southbound left hand turn lane into the parking garage.

During the week of March 11, the east northbound lane of U.S. 231/Northwestern Avenue will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for installation of concrete curbs adjacent to the street. The lane will be reopened each evening while work is underway. The lane restrictions are scheduled to be complete by March 15.

Directional signage will be placed throughout the area indicating the proper traffic flow and alerting drivers of the work ahead.

Construction on the 516 Northwestern Ave. facility is expected to be complete in early 2014.
