Purdue's 2012 highlights captured on video

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The major happenings at Purdue University during 2012 are highlighted in the 58th edition of the Purdue Newsreel, called "The New Faces of Purdue."
The 13-minute program, produced by the Creative Services unit of the Office of Marketing and Media, can be viewed on the Purdue YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrU3UT-HTxc, or is available from the Purdue Undergraduate Library.
The video is sponsored by the Purdue Alumni Association and is shown to Purdue alumni clubs around the world.
The 2012 newsreel was produced and directed by Ray Cubberley, senior broadcast producer in marketing and media. The program is narrated by Tim Newton, director of external relations for Purdue's Krannert School of Management.

Highlights in the 2012 newsreel include: the hiring of Mitch Daniels as Purdue's 12th president; the naming of Tim Sands as acting president until Daniels began his term; the retirement of 11th president France Córdova; the rededication of the Recreational Sports Center and its renaming in Córdova's honor; the memorial service for Neil Armstrong; events involving two other Purdue astronauts; anniversary celebrations for WBAA, Discovery Park and the President's Council; growth in engineering; plans for a trimester calendar; Grand prix; Boiler Gold Rush; Homecoming; an Olympic gold medal for diver David Boudia; a Big Ten championship for baseball; football's return to a bowl game in Texas; the hiring of a new football coach; highlights from men's and women's basketball and volleyball; music from the Glee Club, Purduettes and Marching Band; and a variety of Purdue Alumni Association events.Source: Ray Cubberley, 765-494-2075, firstname.lastname@example.org
