Appointments, honors and activities

• Faculty and staff honors:
- Kimber Nicoletti, director of the Multicultural Efforts to end Sexual Assault program in the Department of Youth Development and Agricultural Education, was honored March 5 as a Woman of Distinction at the YWCA Greater Lafayette Salute to Women Banquet. The YWCA recognizes the achievements and contributions of area women at the annual event. Nicoletti was honored for her dedication to enhancing the quality of life of the poor, underserved and underrepresented members of the community. She has served on the Tippecanoe County Minority Health Coalition and National Sexual Violence Resource Center Advisory Council, and helped found the National Alianza Campesina (National Farm Worker Women Alliance). Nicoletti started a drive for migrant farm worker children and has raised more than $99,000 worth of school supplies and clothing since 2008. Nicoletti also served as president of the Purdue Latino Faculty and Staff Association from 2005 to 2010 and currently serves as president emeritus.
• Student honors:
- The Brian Lamb School of Communication's Fast Track, a student-produced weekly TV newscast, recently won first place in the 2013 Broadcast Education Association's Festival of Media Arts. The winning piece, "Fast Track Best of Fall 2012," won in the category of a student television newscast produced three days a week or less. Fast Track focuses primarily on the Purdue community. Clinical assistant professor Douglas Osman is the instructor for the class that produces Fast Track. The BEA will present the award, and others, at its annual convention April 7-10 in Las Vegas.
• Notables:
- Purdue University's Roland G. Parrish Library of Management and Economics has received a top honor from the Special Libraries Association. The Purdue Libraries unit won the management category of SLA's 12th annual Centers of Excellence Awards program for its how its renovation/transformation project was presented. Recipients of awards in various categories will be honored at the 2013 SLA Conference set for June 9-11 in San Diego.
