October 30, 2012

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Professionals in plant nursery, greenhouse and garden center businesses can learn prevention and treatment tips for downy mildew of impatiens during a Nov. 8 program.

Downy Mildew of Impatiens, sponsored by the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service and Northwest Indiana Floriculture Association, will be 5-7:30 p.m. at Maday's Wholesale Greenhouse Inc., 2215 E. Richton Road, Crete, Ill., about five miles across the Indiana state line from Lake County.

The meeting will begin with refreshments and a tour of the greenhouse, followed by the floriculture association's business meeting. Keynote speaker Colleen Warfield, a corporate plant pathologist at Ball Horticultural Co., will discuss what to do before and after customers' impatiens are infected with downy mildew.
