India (Bombay Presidency): leaf buds and inner stems eaten; (Deccan): fruit eaten. India (Madras Presidency): leaf-bud, or ‘cabbage,’ and ripe fruit eaten; (Western Rajasthan): leaf-bud, inner part of stem eaten; ripe fruit eaten raw. Various preparations made from fruit pulp.
