India (Bombay Presidency): leaves boiled in water then used in preparing bread by mixing with bajri (millet) or jowari (Sorghum vulgare, Pers.) flour; (Madras Presidency, Kistna, Vinucondah taluq): leaves and tender shoots eaten as a vegetable.
