Explore with other Master Gardeners from across the USA the history and glorious modern expressions of tulips in Holland and rhododendrons in southern England. In the Netherlands, we’ll find our own version of Tulipmania including the 16th century botanical garden where Carolus Clusius promoted tulips to the world-famous displays at Keukenhof. In England, the history of plant exploration will connect to the development of rhododendrons at Exbury and Leonardslee, as well as the exceptional beauty of massive display plantings such as Isabella Plantation and the Savill Garden. Timed to hit the peak of bloom, color will be the order of the day throughout the program! Participants may elect to extend their travels on their own, for example to Amsterdam prior to the program and in London following its conclusion.
