Child Language Research Laboratory

Welcome to the Child Language Lab!

New school-year program for preschoolers with speech-language delays!

Welcome to the Child Language Lab at Purdue University! We study the language development of children 4-1/2 to 6 years of age. Our goal is to understand why some children have difficulty learning language, and to discover ways to help them learn language more successfully. Find out more about the children we study: Children with Language Impairment: The Focus of Our Research

Every summer, we conduct a special program for children with Language Impairment, in collaboration with SLHS clinical staff. Children in the program participate in both research and language therapy activities in a preschool setting. We have recently added a new school-year program that also combines participation in our word-learning study with language enrichment for your child. Learn more about “Summer Fun”, the assessments we offer, and other services provided by our lab: For Parents, Clinicians, and Teachers: What We Offer

We also see children throughout the year, in our laboratory in Lyles-Porter Hall at Purdue University as well as in surrounding sites. We see children with Language Impairment and children with typically developing language for a variety of studies, of varying type and length.
