I just wanted to confirm if the angle alpha as shown in the image represents the angle between unit vector u and the negative x-axis or if it’s the angle between unit vector u and force F2.
It looks like the angle alpha represents the angle between u and F2 because the angle phi is the one between the negative x-axis and F2.
So the total angle between u and the negative x-axis is phi plus alpha? (30+40=70)?
