Should we be using maximum shear stress theory or otherwise in this analysis? Its not clear if we need to go through multiple ways of getting lack of failure or just if we should be doing the simple “Yeild/Stress.”
From information given I am assuming Maximum shear stress equation for the pin and Maximum normal stress for the Cable but I’m just checking that is the correct direction.

Are you asking whether you need to consider multiple different failure criteria? If so, then the answer is no.
