INPREPared.org to Launch during the Indiana State Fair!

Stay “emergency aware” with Indiana PREPared! 

The brand new Purdue Rural Emergency Preparedness program (INPREPared) is Purdue Extension’s comprehensive resource for disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation, with an emphasis on rural and agricultural issues.  The project will launch during the Indiana State Fair, with a special exhibit in the Purdue Extension Agriculture-Horticulture Building August 12, 13, and 14.  Plan to stop by, visit with INPREPared staff, and learn more about the program!

The program addresses unique challenges faced by Indiana’s farms, agribusinesses, rural residents, and first responders by highlighting current emergency and disaster-related issues and disseminating timely and specific information.

The centerpiece of the project is the INPREPared.org website, which will be made available to the public during the Indiana State Fair, August 2-18, 2019.  The site currently contains various resources and links to educational materials that address emergency and disaster situations common to Indiana communities such as floods, tornadoes, winter storms, and extreme heat.  Make sure your family is ready for these events by downloading a “Go-bag” checklist from INPREPared.org!

In the coming months, the program will expand to include resources for agricultural emergencies and farm accident response, animal disease, biosecurity, site hazard assessment, disability issues in disasters and much more.  In addition, the project will provide educational materials, resources, and ongoing training opportunities for Hoosier families, emergency responders, and Extension staff to enhance community preparedness in Indiana’s 92 counties.   A feature of the site will be timely and current updates specific to emergency situations affecting rural Hoosiers, accessible through INPREPared.org and social media.
