What is Dawn or Doom?

Dawn or Doom is a two-day emerging technology conference designed to prompt open-minded and thoughtful consideration of the potential risks and rewards posed by such technologies, while also considering how we might make sure the outcome is more beneficial than detrimental. The conference features leading national experts and Purdue’s very own researchers, who speak and hold a dialogue with their audiences.

Where is Dawn or Doom?

Dawn or Doom is held on Purdue University’s West Lafayette campus. The 2018 conference will take place in Stewart Center. Click here for a campus map. For room locations, check the conference schedule online closer to November.

I don’t have a Purdue parking pass. Where should I park?

When you register for Dawn or Doom, if you are off of campus, you can request a parking pass.  Please note that the deadline to request a pass is October 24th.  Parking information can be found on the Purdue Convocations website. Look under Parking for Fowler Hall.

Can I print out a schedule before I get to the event?

Yes. We will upload a downloadable copy of the schedule the Friday before Dawn or Doom. Last minute changes could happen. Please check back to ensure you don’t miss any of the talks important to you. We will also have printed schedules for you to pick up when you arrive.

Do I need to register?

You don’t have to, but it is advised to ensure we have enough space for all attendees. It will also put you on the mailing list for updates and important information you don’t want to miss.

How can I register and do I need to bring a printed ticket?

Registration can be found here: purdue.edu/dawnordoom/register. You do not need to print anything to get into the talks. The conference is designed to allow you to come and go as needed.

If I register, do I have to attend both days and/or all talks on a certain day?

Not at all. This is a free event and we understand you have other things going on.  Please register and attend the talks that fit into your schedule.
