Identity and Access Management

The Purdue Career Account Login

Every staff member and student on the West Lafayette campus is assigned a computer login name for an account that is permanent for the person's stay at Purdue. The login name is called the Purdue Career Account Login..

Login Assignment

The Purdue career account login is assigned to persons uniquely identified in official University data, supplied by the Personnel Services Office and the Office of the Registrar.

Login Composition

The Purdue career account login contains two through eight characters. The characters may be from the sets 'a' through 'z' (lower case) and '0' through '9' (decimal digits).

Coordination

A Purdue career account login is coordinated when it and the alias of the @Purdue.edu Email address for the person are the same. See Account Coordination for more information on the subject. When coordinated, it is called the Coordinated Purdue Career Account Login.

Using the Login as a PUID Alias

The coordinated Purdue career account login is currently borrowed for use as a PUID alias when it can uniquely be matched to the information in the PUID Oracle database. That matching is currently done using the Human Resource IDentification numbers (HRIDs) and Student IDentification numbers (SIDs) found in official University data, Purdue University career account records, and Purdue e-mail alias records.

Using the Login's Password in the Purdue Realm

When a PUID is assigned an alias from its corresponding coordinated Purdue career account login, the password associated with the coordinated Purdue career account login is currently borrowed to become the password known to the I2A2 authenticator as the Purdue Realm Password.
