Tolerance and free speech are messages taken very seriously at Purdue. As a national leader on this topic, Purdue will host a Dec. 5 symposium, focusing on the vital role that open debate and civil discourse play in advancing a healthy campus culture of learning and engagement. Brad Duerstock

How to make future autonomous transportation accessible to everyone

When Brad Duerstock was 18, a spinal cord injury paralyzed his arms and legs, requiring him to use what control he had left in his hands to operate a power wheelchair. Throughout the more than 30 years since, Duerstock, a professor of practice in industrial engineering and biomedical engineering, has seen smartphones, tablets and other types of technology get developed but not become usable for him or others with disabilities until years later. Bringing Our Best

Thumbs Up: Juan Robles

Juan Robles (Latino Cultural Center) has been an asset to me in ensuring that our students have the resources they need while being such a welcoming person. I appreciate his ability to problem-solve and help work with our national headquarters with FSCL. We could not do it without his knowledge, care and personality. – Donnie Otto (Dean of Students)
