As tens of thousands of parents and teens make the annual pilgrimage to visit college campuses in the quest for that perfect fit, Purdue is offering a handy checklist of questions to aid in their search. While prospective students are checking out classrooms, housing and recreational spaces on their campus tours, they also should find out about student-faculty engagement, high-impact experiences and affordability.
Gallup and Purdue have begun to survey a selection of Purdue alumni to gain feedback about their educational experience while attending Purdue University, as well as work and life experiences.
Bearing Analytics, a Purdue student startup based in Purdue Research Park, is one of 10 top startups to receive a $100,000 grant from FOUNDER.org, a global student entrepreneur investor and company building program.
President Mitch Daniels testified about human spaceflight Wednesday (June 25) during a hearing in the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space and Technology. Daniels was joined by Jonathan Lunine, director of Cornell University's Center for Radiophysics and Space Research. Daniels and Lunine co-chaired the National Research Council's Committee on Human Spaceflight. The committee issued its report, "Pathways to Exploration: Rationales and Approaches for a U.S. Program of Human Space Exploration," earlier this month. The role of Sarah E. Howard, Purdue University Calumet vice chancellor of information services, has been expanded to include information services oversight at Purdue University North Central. Effective immediately, Howard becomes the fifth administrator to assume responsibilities at both campuses since the Feb. 26 announcement of intentions to unify Purdue Calumet and Purdue North Central.
Purdue sports
Dani Bunch was named the Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year, the conference announced on Monday (June 23) during its award show on the Big Ten Network. Bunch is the sixth Purdue woman to be named the conference's Female Athlete of the Year.
Eleven regular-season home games along with the opportunity to host the Big Ten Tournament for the first time since 2001 highlight Purdue women's soccer's 2014 schedule, announced by head coach Robert Klatte.
