Research and teaching go hand-in-hand for Ahmed Mustafa, professor of biology at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.
Since 2001, Mustafa has been involving IPFW students in his research, which focuses on stress in aquatic life and how to prevent diseases without the use of drug therapy.

When it comes to being engaged at work and experiencing high well-being after graduation, a new Gallup-Purdue University study of college graduates shows that the type of institution they attended matters less than what they experienced there.

The Purdue Quality of Work Environment Initiative Employee Survey will remain open until Monday (May 12). All nonacademic staff, if they have not completed the survey, should have received a reminder email invitation this Monday (May 5) to participate. Employees are encouraged to complete the survey. Sharing opinions will help Purdue improve the quality of the work environment for University staff.
Information has been mailed to clerical and service staff about applying for membership on the Clerical and Service Staff Advisory Committee. The application deadline is May 30.
Individuals who use ITaP lab and classroom Windows computers may notice some personalized settings have been restored to default settings by a planned reset of user profiles this summer.

Close to 500 business and community leaders on Monday (May 5) attended the Columbus (Ind.) Economic Development Board's annual meeting, where President Mitch Daniels was the keynote speaker.
Daniels spoke about the Purdue Moves strategic initiatives, stressed value and accountability in higher education and received enthusiastic applause when he said he would soon speak to Purdue trustees about freezing tuition for a third consecutive year.
The Center for Instructional Excellence has introduced a new study abroad and intercultural learning blogging site for faculty and students to submit blog posts and discuss intentional intercultural learning assignments relating to their study abroad experiences.
Research about religion and Chinese society will be expanded with a new academic journal dedicated to these topics, which were once overlooked just a few decades ago. Purdue's Center on Religion and Chinese Society is launching the journal this month.

The Big East and Big Ten Conferences have announced the establishment of the Gavitt Tipoff Games, an annual early season series of eight men's basketball games played between the two conferences and named in honor of Dave Gavitt, founder of the Big East and basketball visionary.
After a one-year hiatus, the Purdue men's golf team will be back in the NCAA Regional Golf Championship as it will travel to Sugar Grove, Ill., and Rich Harvest Farms on May 15-17 for a chance to advance to the NCAA Championships.
The Boilermaker softball team finished sixth in Big Ten play with a 13-10 record and earned the No. 6 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. The Boilermakers will face off against No. 11 seed Indiana (5-18 Big Ten) at noon ET Thursday (May 8) in Evanston, Ill.
Purdue baseball will host a Boilermaker Block Party during its May 16 game against Iowa at Alexander Field.
