If it involves combating digital crime -- whether it's analyzing major cases, assisting local, state and federal investigations, or training current and future cyber forensics professionals -- it's a good bet Marcus Rogers is involved.
Rogers is professor of computer and information technology, associate department head, faculty lead for Purdue's cyber forensics graduate program and a University Faculty Scholar. In addition to being a deputized investigator for the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Department, Rogers is a go-to media expert on cyber forensics and an award-winning researcher.

Purdue's Office of Emergency Preparedness will conduct emergency preparedness training sessions beginning Friday (Feb. 7) to remind the campus community how to prepare for and react to potentially dangerous events.
David Williams, University Senate chair, announced during the Senate's Jan. 27 meeting that he has formed a task force to examine the possibility of moving Purdue to a year-round academic calendar.

Purdue's faculty, staff and graduate students are invited to attend and present posters at "Big Data in Agriculture," a symposium March 5. Registration is free but required, and the deadline is Feb. 21.

The Presidential Lecture Series, a new series of diverse lectures on policy, leadership, culture and society, will kick off Wednesday (Feb. 5) with author Harlan Coben. Coben will discuss "The Rules of Writing and When to Break Them" at 6:30 p.m. in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall.
Purdue's Dr. Martin Luther King Commemorative lecture by Julian Bond scheduled for today (Feb. 4) has been canceled. Renee Thomas, director of Purdue's Black Cultural Center and co-chair of the Martin Luther King Planning Committee, said winter storm watches here and on the East Coast forced the cancellation.
All current and newly admitted students planning on attending Purdue in the fall of 2014 must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1 to receive priority consideration for federal, state and university-based financial aid.
Applications are being taken for the Purdue University Alpha Chi Omega chapter scholarship, which is awarded each year to a student whose college career has been touched by the arts.
Two new service-learning reflection journals are available through Purdue's Jetpack mobile application. These academic tools were created to help students with service-learning and academic community service assignments and projects.
