In the Spotlight
When Bill Schoenlein started working for the Biomedical Engineering Center after graduating from Purdue, he had no idea that he would stay in Indiana, let alone at Purdue, to pursue a 40-year career in the field.
Schoenlein is a preclinical studies manager in the now Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering. He works on studies with industrial sponsors to test and sometimes develop intravascular devices to monitor or change the physiology of the human body.

In early 2014, a new Web-based Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) tool will help Purdue units develop, store and deploy plans to continue essential functions after events that disrupt normal campus operations.

A new monthly feature from the Office of the Provost will highlight a Purdue department head and the activities within his or her department. This month's profile focuses on Venkataramanan (Ragu) Balakrishnan, head of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
General news
Purdue's Steele cluster supercomputer, retired as of Nov. 30, kicked off the Community Cluster Program partnership between ITaP and faculty researchers in 2008. The program has given Purdue the best high-performance computing infrastructure for research on a single campus in the nation.
Hillenbrand Dining Court's gingerbread creation is one of seven entries now on display at Purdue Memorial Union as part of Dining Services' second annual gingerbread construction contest. The structures will be featured in the lounges adjacent to the Great Hall through Friday (Dec. 6). A photo gallery featuring the entries is here, and a Purdue Today story on the contest is here.
Prizes will be awarded for two categories: judges' choice and people's choice. The general public can vote at the Union, by survey, or on the PMU Facebook page. Voting closes at noon Friday.
