Purdue software boosts
graduation rate 21 percent

A data-mining and analysis software program called Signals developed by Purdue has increased six-year graduation rates by 21.48 percent, according to a recent review of data from the 2007 cohort of students.

HR Connect e-newsletter launches today

Human Resources will send the first edition of its new HR Connect e-newsletter today (Sept. 25). The newsletter aims to keep faculty and staff up-to-date with HR matters that directly touch the lives of employees and their families.

Faculty, staff and students need to map career account storage to new server

Faculty, staff and students who access their Purdue home directory, also known as career account storage, from home or from their personal devices need to manually change settings to a new network drive because of the decommissioning of several old servers on Thursday (Sept. 26). Computers in ITaP-managed labs and classrooms have been automatically configured, but any network drives on campus workstations that were originally mapped manually by users also need to be changed.

President's Forum on Oct. 3 to highlight Purdue initiatives

The Purdue community is invited to join President Mitch Daniels for a President's Forum on Oct. 3 in Purdue Memorial Union, South Ballroom. The forum, scheduled for 8-9 a.m., will feature Daniels along with panelists who are leading two of the new West Lafayette campus initiatives.

Purdue software toolkit provides visual analytics to aid law enforcement, first responders

Purdue researchers have developed a new tool for law enforcement officers and disaster assistance first responders to reduce crime and assist people. The tool is called the Visual Analytics Law Enforcement Toolkit, or VALET.

Purdue study: Buses fueled by natural gas a better option now

The local bus system could reduce its costs and emit significantly fewer pollutants by converting its fleet to one powered by natural gas, a cleaner fuel now in greater supply and more affordable, Purdue energy economist Wally Tyner reports in a study.

Hall of Fame induction this Saturday

The Purdue Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2013 will be recognized during halftime of the football game vs. Northern Illinois on Saturday (Sept. 28) and formally inducted that evening.
