Purdue Profiles: Julie Harrell

One of Julie Harrell's professional joys involves linking Purdue's Spanish students with Spanish-speaking community members -- and providing invaluable experiences for all involved. Harrell, a continuing lecturer in Spanish and a native of Wabash, is director of Ayuda y Aprende, Purdue's Spanish service-learning program. Meaning "Help and Learn," the program typically has about 100-130 students.

Purdue to test all-hazards outdoor sirens today

Purdue will test its all-hazards outdoor emergency warning sirens today (Aug. 13). The University's seven sirens, placed strategically around campus, are scheduled to be sounded at approximately 4:30 p.m.

After-hours care for work-related injuries no longer available at Greenbush Street location

The Greenbush Street location of IU Health Urgent Care no longer provides service after 5 p.m. If an employee has a work-related injury or illness requiring care after 5 p.m., other IU Health locations are available.

Giving to Purdue is now easier and more efficient with the addition of a new payroll deduction tool within OnePurdue. Faculty and staff at all Purdue campuses can manage their payroll deductions through Employee Self Service in OnePurdue.

USDA predicts bin-busting corn, soybean yields

The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Monday (Aug. 12) predicted the nation's largest corn crop in history and the third-largest soybean crop -- a stark contrast from a year ago when crops were devastated by drought. Purdue experts were among panelists who discussed the outlook at the Indiana State Fair.

Cross country schedule to include hosting Big Ten meet

The Purdue cross country teams officially announced their schedule on Monday (Aug. 12). The Boilermakers are set to host a pair of meets, including the Big Ten Championships, for the first time since the 2010 season.
