Center for Instructional Excellence continues to support college pedagogy
In 1992, then Provost Robert Ringel and an ad hoc committee began outlining ways for Purdue to meet educational challenges of the 21st century.
The committee recognized that in regard to college pedagogy, most faculty members had limited knowledge and little help acquiring more. The solution was the establishment of the Center for Instructional Excellence in 1998. Read more...
CIE to offer teaching workshops in May
The Center for Instructional Excellence is offering several teaching workshops in an intensive format in May. These workshops will give participants the chance to enhance their teaching skills, learn about innovative teaching techniques, and network with other instructors on campus about their teaching. Lake sturgeon have genes from parasite, signs of human STD
While trying to find a DNA-based test to determine the sex of lake sturgeon, Purdue researchers found that the sturgeon genome contains trematode genes that didn't originally belong to it and may harbor a protozoan parasite that causes a sexually transmitted disease in humans. Read more...

Purdue hosts U.S.-French symposium
Sidy Diallo, acting French consul general in Chicago, speaks at a joint U.S.-French symposium on developing partnerships to deal with sustainable water management and agriculture in an era of climate and global change. The symposium was hosted by Purdue on Tuesday and Wednesday at Stewart Center. The symposium, organized by Purdue's Global Engineering Program and the Office for Science and Technology of the French Embassy in Chicago, focused on enhancing the development of U.S.-French research, education and industrial partnerships to address issues of climate change, sustainable water management and agriculture. It also was designed to present needs and skills to policy-makers, researchers and businesses.
