President's Forum set for March 10

Faculty and staff are invited to attend a President's Forum from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in the East and West Faculty Lounges at Purdue Memorial Union. Craig Svensson, dean of the College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Sciences, will present an overview of the School of Pharmacy Strategic Plan; and John Contreni, the Justin S. Morrill Dean of Liberal Arts, will present "The New College of Liberal Arts."

Design students place in international competition

Escape, residential
fire escape ladder

A Purdue student who placed first at the 16th annual Student Design Competition sponsored by the International Housewares Association will display her residential fire escape ladder at a professional show in Chicago. Nora Flood, a junior in the College of Liberal Arts from Grapevine, Texas, received $2,400 for her first-place design Escape, a ladder that uses the window frame for support rather than hooking onto the windowsill. Discovery Park administrator named Fulbright New Century Scholar

Pankaj Sharma
Pankaj Sharma, associate director of international operations at Discovery Park, has been named a Fulbright New Century Scholar, an appointment given this year to 30 top academics and professionals from the U.S. and abroad. Sharma, a professor in Purdue's College of Technology, will collaborate with the 2009-10 class of Fulbright scholars on the theme, "The University as Innovation Driver and Knowledge Center," said Shirley Green, chair of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. More
