In the spotlight: Purdue Saves Week

Today's tip: Saving for a home or car

Develop a savings plan to build up money for a down payment at purchase, for moving expenses, and for post-purchase emergency expenditures such as needed home repairs. The larger your down payment, the lower your home loan payment. For more information, go to www.americasaves.org/strategies/homeownership/default.asp and www.americasaves.org/strategies/auto/default.asp. Information is also available at the Purdue Saves table, which will be in the main lobby of Stewart Center each day this week between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Today's tip:
Wellness

Consuming fruits and vegetables is easy in the summer when everything is fresh and readily available. What do you do in the middle of winter? A convenient option is dried fruit. Dried fruit contains lots of fiber, vitamins A and C, potassium and folate. Dried fruit is a portable snack, and in the kitchen it can be added to salads, pancake batter, bread recipes or a bowl of cereal. Dried fruit may contain more calories per serving than fresh, and some dried fruits are preserved with sulfite, which can trigger allergic reactions in some people, so read the package label.
