In the spotlight: Purdue Saves Week

Today's tip: Getting out of debt

The first step in getting out of debt is to stop borrowing. To do that, you have to stop spending more than you earn. It may help to cut up your credit cards or lock them away in a safe place. For more information, go to www.americasaves.org/strategies/debt.asp or stop by the Purdue Saves table, which will be in the main lobby of Stewart Center each day this week between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Shredding corn plant residue

Dennis Buckmaster, associate professor of agricultural and biological engineering, said that by shredding corn stover there is better access to cellulose, which is the main part of plant cell walls necessary to make ethanol.
