WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Trent Klingerman has been named Purdue University’s vice president for human resources, effective July 1, 2015.
Klingerman has served as interim vice president since November and has served as the university’s director of employee relations since 2012. Before coming to Purdue, Klingerman was an employment lawyer from 2001-2012 at the legal firm of Stuart and Branigin LLP.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Purdue in 1994 and his law degree from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 2001.
“This is a challenging position, but I’m excited to take it on,” Klingerman said. “After I earned my degree from Purdue and went on to law school, I returned to West Lafayette. I have a deep interest in higher education and so much respect for this university and its people that I can’t imagine anywhere I would rather be.”
The vice president for human resources reports to William Sullivan, the university’s chief financial officer and treasurer. As vice president, Klingerman oversees human resource activities for the entire Purdue University system, including benefits, employment, compensation, training and development, employee relations, and HR information systems.
