  • Among the 48,000 Indiana high school graduates in 2014 who took the SAT, only 101 college-bound African Americans and 156 Latinos had SAT scores and GPAs in the range of the average Purdue freshman. (source: College Board’s Enrollment Planning Service)
  • Among that same set of graduates, only 7 college-bound African Americans and 16 Latinos had SAT scores and high school GPAs in the range of the top 15% of Purdue freshmen. (source: College Board’s Enrollment Planning Service)

    • 8 percentage points more likely to need remediation
    • 8 percentage points less likely to enroll in college
    • According to the Department of Education, SAT scores for 2012 IPS high school graduates were significantly below the national average and College Board’s college readiness benchmark.       • IPS average: 1265 on a 2400 scale
        • Math=427, Critical Reading=423, Writing=415
      • National average: 1498
