Search launched for Purdue executive VP for research

President Mitch Daniels announced today (March 20) the launch of a national search for the University’s next executive vice president for research and partnerships and senior research officer. The search will be led by Jay Akridge, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and diversity.

Take a closer look at Neil Armstrong’s giant leaps through new Apollo exhibition

The public will have a chance to get a closer glimpse into Purdue alumnus Neil Armstrong’s life through an exhibition presented by Purdue Archives and Special Collections. “Apollo in the Archives: Selections from the Neil A. Armstrong Papers” commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first manned spaceflight that landed on the moon – where Armstrong took those famed first steps. The exhibition coincides with the University’s July celebration of the moon landing, as well as the University’s sesquicentennial celebration, 150 Years of Giant Leaps.

Pacheco, Pitts receive
Murphy Award

Derek Pacheco, associate professor in the Department of English, and Yvonne Pitts, associate professor in the Department of History, have been named recipients of the 2019 Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award in Memory of Charles B. Murphy. Pacheco and Pitts were surprised with the news on Tuesday (March 19).

honored with University
teaching awards

Heather Howard, assistant professor in Purdue University Libraries, has received the Exceptional Early Career Award, and Cynthia Harwood, continuing lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, has been recognized with the Excellence in Instruction Award for Continuing Lecturers. Howard and Harwood were surprised with the news on Tuesday (March 19).
