University Senate collecting input on civics literacy at Purdue with town hall, survey

This spring, the Purdue University Senate will be considering possible approaches to strengthen civics education and understanding among Purdue undergraduate students. The Senate will be gathering input through a town hall meeting on March 1 and through an online survey.

The readiness of Purdue alumni, in attitude and in preparation, to step beyond ordinary will be in evidence as two alumni, TV’s Ted Allen and pilot Capt. "Sully" Sullenberger, speak on campus. Allen currently hosts "Chopped" on Food Network. Sullenberger safely landed a commercial airliner on the Hudson River, potentially saving 155 lives. Deceiving the deceivers: Employing false fronts, data to fool hackers

Most people don’t know when they’ve been hacked, with millions affected in 2018, amounting to tens of billions of dollars lost. Eugene Spafford, a Purdue computer science professor, has worked for years to build secure computer systems and, in computer forensics, help investigate and prosecute by pushing through the deceit used by hackers.
