Author J.D. Vance to open spring Presidential Lecture Series, hold book signing

J.D. Vance, author of "Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis," will open Purdue’s Spring 2017 Presidential Lecture Series at 6:30 p.m. today (Jan. 30) in Stewart Center’s Loeb Playhouse. Vance also will have a book signing from 5:45 to 6:15 p.m. today in Stewart Center's west foyer, and copies of "Hillbilly Elegy" will be available for purchase.

Purdue Profiles: Alain Togbe

Every year, Alain Togbe, professor of mathematics at Purdue Northwest, has gotten together with friends and traveled to different countries in Africa to organize research schools with the help of the Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées and the International Center for Theoretical Physics. For two weeks, they teach courses and encourage African mathematicians between the ages of 25 and 35 to continue their research in mathematics. He sees it as his way of spreading his love and excitement for mathematics and teaching.
