Did You Know?: Purdue pre-astronautsAmid all the famous Purdue graduates stand three alumni who became pre-astronauts before Project Mercury, the NASA program that put the first American astronauts in space. Those three are balloonist Malcolm Ross, test pilot "Mr. Space" Iven Kincheloe and eventual astronaut Neil Armstrong — all storied record setters and all Boilermakers.
