In the Spotlight
Known by many names since opening in 1909, Felix Haas Hall has a long and storied history. Originally known as Memorial Gymnasium, the building was built as a memorial to the football players, students and alumni who died in the famous 1903 Purdue train wreck.
The building hosted men's basketball games until 1938, when Lambert Fieldhouse was completed. Until that time, commencement ceremonies were held in the gym, which could easily be converted into an auditorium.

Research news
Researchers have created a new type of "ultracold" molecule, using lasers to cool atoms nearly to absolute zero and then gluing them together, a technology that might be applied to quantum computing, precise sensors and advanced simulations.

Purdue sports
Game notes are available to preview Purdue's first-round matchup against Ohio State during the Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament. The game, which will air on the Big Ten Network, starts at 2:30 p.m. today (March 13).
Purdue's Boilermaker Soccer Complex will serve as the site of an April 1 exhibition game between two professional teams, the Indy Eleven and the Chicago Fire.
