Nothing energizes Janet Beagle more than listening to graduate students enthusiastically discuss the myriad career paths open to them thanks to their studies at Purdue. Beagle is the Graduate School's director of graduate admissions. Her duties include overseeing the school's admissions and recruitment -- and both tasks connect her to Purdue's graduate students, who exude excitement and passion about their studies that Beagle finds inspiring.
Faculty and staff news
Human Resources has announced that at no charge, Purdue faculty and staff can now access Lynda.com's catalog of more than 2,000 online courses. There has been an ongoing demand for professional development and training sessions in the areas of Microsoft Office, Adobe, time management, project management, leadership and supervision and more.
The Office of the Vice President for Research is hosting an Education and Outreach Expo from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday (March 13) in Stewart Center, Rooms 302-306.
Two new self-service, automated video recording rooms, called Video Express sites, are now open for use on the West Lafayette campus. The sites make it possible for Purdue faculty and staff to easily record high-quality video for instructional use.
Purdue Video Express, a new automated video recording service for faculty and staff, makes high-quality video creation easy. Instructors who want to find out just how easy are encouraged to register for ITaP's spring break workshop series, which will give participants an overview of a Video Express site in addition to sessions on editing and sharing video.

Purdue has installed a powerful type of MRI machine -- the only one of its kind in Indiana -- that will boost research and training capabilities and serve the regional scientific community.
Purdue University North Central students soon will have the opportunity to reduce the cost of earning a bachelor's degree thanks to a new tuition discount plan. Beginning in the Fall 2014 semester, PNC students will receive a 10 percent rate reduction for each credit hour taken beyond 12 hours per semester. The discount plan is designed to provide financial incentives for students to increase the number of credit hours taken each semester and encourage them to graduate in four years.

The Big Ten Conference announced its yearly awards and honors on Monday evening (March 10), naming sophomore center A.J. Hammons to the All-Defensive team and freshman guard Kendall Stephens to the All-Freshman team in voting done by the coaches.
