When Elliot Friedman, assistant professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, began teaching a 200-level lecture course on his field of research, he wanted to encourage as much interaction and engagement as a lecture hall with 300-plus students would allow.
Friedman now uses i>clicker and Course Signals to encourage interaction, spark engagement and give students feedback on their academic progress.

Halfway through this year's Recyclemania competition, which runs through March 30, the Office of University Sustainability strongly encourages Purdue faculty and staff members to continue recycling their unneeded files and paperwork.
The Center for Instructional Excellence is seeking posters for "The Changing Classroom Symposium" on March 26-27, when faculty members will present their methods and experiences in redesigning courses through the IMPACT initiative. The deadline to submit posters and a 250-word abstract is 5 p.m. Monday (March 10).

Led by the individual invitations earned by Francesca Marr and Carly Mercer, seven Purdue women swimmers will represent the Boilermakers at the NCAA Championships on March 20-22 in Minneapolis.
Ground has been broken and visible progress will be made on the Boilermaker Softball Stadium construction site in the coming weeks. The stadium will be near Alexander Field in the Northwest Athletics Complex.
The latest edition of "Boilermaker Breakdown," Purdue Athletics' weekly video recap, has highlights from the Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships and NFL Pro Day footage featuring an interview with former Boilermaker football player Ricardo Allen.
