A black-and-white sign in Sherry Fulk-Bringman's workspace boldly proclaims that "Soil is Beautiful," but it tells only half the story. Fulk-Bringman is the laboratory and outreach coordinator in the College of Agriculture's Department of Agronomy. She is passionate about the intricate science behind the earth's soils, and she is also deeply committed to helping Purdue students absorb that information -- and go on to fulfilling careers. Faculty and staff news
A steering committee of Purdue faculty, staff and students, along with the consulting team of Rundell Ernstberger Associates LLC and Toole Design Group Inc., are collaborating to develop a strategy for the future of pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure on the West Lafayette campus. Two public meetings about the project are being held Wednesday and Thursday (Feb. 5 and 6) in Purdue Memorial Union, West Faculty Lounge.
A "Boiler Strong" T-shirt is now available to honor Andrew Boldt. Money raised through sales of the shirt will support the Andrew Boldt Cary Racing Scholarship Fund.
In addition to upgrading its studio to high-definition video, ITaP has radically reduced the fee to use its full-service video production facility, which is Purdue's only broadcast television studio, as part of an initiative to encourage its use.
The Office of University Sustainability encourages Purdue faculty and staff members to recycle their unneeded files and paperwork during this year's Recyclemania competition, which runs Feb. 2 to March 30.
The Purdue Employees Activity Program, a subcommittee of the Clerical and Service Staff Advisory Committee, is sponsoring a Feb. 8 chocolate and wine tasting tour.
Provost search committee seeking faculty, staff input The provost search committee would like to remind the Purdue community to submit nominations of individuals they think should be considered for the position of executive vice president for academic affairs and provost. General news
A Purdue delegation led by President Mitch Daniels visited Colombia this month and furthered the unique nation-university partnership begun in 2010. Purdue and Colombian officials concluded several agreements continuing and broadening partnerships for faculty and PhD students and undergraduate internships; partnered on supercomputer infrastructure; established a Purdue partnerships office in Colombia and announced its director; and discussed future opportunities including Purdue's role in planning the sustainable development of the OrinoquĂa region in Colombia.
A significant and valuable painting depicting an important moment in America's fight for independence has arrived on Purdue's West Lafayette campus, and its installation will be officially celebrated with a Presidents Day event at 5 p.m. Feb. 17 in the Class of 1950 Lecture Hall.

The Indiana-Purdue men's swimming and diving dual meet set for 11 a.m. Feb. 8 in Bloomington has been selected to be televised live by the Big Ten Network.
